Is it the Stone Foundation Leaking or a Sewer Pipe? – Boston, MA

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, December 15, 2016

Is your stone foundation leaking or is it a sewer pipe? Here is an interesting case study, but the good thing was there was no smell involved. We got a call from a panicked real estate agent who was trying to help a client. They were trying to close the next day and they had water coming through what she thought was the stone foundation. I asked her to take a picture of it, and they did. This was about 5:00pm in the afternoon. There was definitely water from coming behind the sewer pipe that was right in front of and actually touching the stone foundation.

I sent one of my guys out the next morning to look at it. He told me it is leaking from behind the pipe. We had to determine if the sewer pipe was leaking or if it was leaking from the stone foundation. What we did was fill a bathtub upstairs and run the water in the kitchen sink. By filling the bathtub, when he pulled the drain, it created a lot of pressure going down and the water would go through this pipe in front of the stone foundation. When he did that there was water coming out. I thought of doing this because it was not raining and they still had water at times.

The water was leaking out of the back of the pipe. They got a plumber over there and closed on the home that day. This is a perfect example of how A1 Foundation Crack Repair can help the homeowner and real estate agents. For more information, contact A1 Foundation Crack Repair.
