The topic for today’s podcast: Homeowner Finds a Family of Snakes in Prized Shoe Collection.

Crackman: It was a woman in West borrow who called me up with panic in her voice. She said she has snakes in her basement. She proceeded to tell me that she has a shoe collection in her basement. She went down and found a little garden snake in her shoes. She was quite frightened by it. So I went down into her basement. Some of it was finished and some of it wasn’t. I noticed there were small gaps between the seal plate, which is the wood of the house, and where it rests on the concrete. I knew we had to seal those up for her. On the other half of her basement she had ceiling tiles. We had to move the ones that were near the outside walls. We sealed up small gaps and then we noticed right in the corner that there was a gap about the size of a cigar. When we looked we could see the snake skins. We knew we had found the entrance for these snakes. The lady called me up the next day and said that she could really sleep well now.

Narrator: I guess that would freak a lot of people out. I guess it could have been rats or mice in addition to the snakes.

Crackman: There certainly could be.

Narrator: Well, Rich, that’s a very interesting case study that everyone should be aware of. The lesson learned there is to plug those basement holes to keep the creepy crawlers out of your home.
