Narrator: It's time once again for the Crackman Podcast, hosted by A1 Foundation Crack Repair. I'm Darren Kincaid and I'm here with the Crack Daddy himself, Adam Tracy. Adam has 20 years of experience in the construction industry and as a civil engineer is A1 Foundation's resident engineer on staff, solving a plethora of unique foundation problems every day. This podcast provides expert basement waterproofing, concrete repair, and preventative maintenance tips for homeowners and businesses. A1 Foundation's viable insight will help avert the disaster of a flooded basement, health problems at water infiltration and protect your biggest investment, your home. The topic of today's podcast: A1's strategy for rapid basement water problem diagnosis.
Narrator: So Adam, if a potential customer reaches out to you about a basement water problem, do you automatically book a salesman to go to the property and pitch a fix action?
Adam: No, we don't. In fact, most inquiries that come through our door—whether it's via call, email, or text message—we’re able to diagnose right over the phone, and that surprises a lot of people. There are a lot of companies out there whose first reaction is to send somebody out to take a look. And usually, when someone’s rushing out to “take a look,” there’s a simple reason why: they want to sell you something. Often, it’s solutions to problems you may or may not even have.
So when we get a call, an email, or a form filled through the website, we find out what the problem is. And when you call us, you'll see it all over our website: you're going to speak to a live pro. What does that mean? It doesn’t mean you're getting someone in the office who’s just answering phones to book appointments. You're talking to somebody who’s been in the field for at least 10 years, doing this work, with tons of experience handling all sorts of foundation problems.
Now, with a foundation crack or other structural issues, we're able to quickly evaluate what's going on. Usually, a photo works just like an X-ray. Foundations aren’t very dynamic—they don’t change often. They might be dry, then wet, then dry again, but that doesn't really change what the foundation is or isn’t capable of. So photos are our first line of defense to quickly diagnose the state of the foundation, what’s happening, the potential causes, and the path forward for solutions.
A lot of times, we're able to price things right over the phone. In cases where things get more complicated, that’s when we send someone out—not as a sales guy, but as either an engineer or an evaluator. Their job is to understand what’s actually happening, identify the root cause, and determine what remedies are needed. Our first move is never to send a salesperson to upsell you on things you don’t need. At the end of the day, you're just trying to solve a problem—not take on a huge foundation project just to make a company richer.
So when you call us—or any contractor—listen closely to how they respond. If you present a problem, is their first reaction to send out a sales team? Or is their first instinct to understand the issue, how it’s affecting your home, and what the real fix might be? Because in the end, you don’t care about the sales process. You care about getting it fixed—and fixed for the long term.
When you contact us, you’re going to get someone who knows what they're talking about, who understands all the solutions available. And if it's something a little tricky or outside the box, we’re ready for that too—with an in-person insight visit when it’s actually needed. So don’t worry—we’re experienced enough to know when it's time to come out and when it's something we can confidently diagnose and price remotely.
